RANE
Portable Combustion Systems

The RANE Trailer
Mounted Portable Combustion System is the
largest and most cost efficient portable combustion system in existence. Able to process up to 13 arms at 600gpm and as
little as 1 arm at 600 gpm, while maintaining stability, with no assist gas. In many terminals, the system will be able to even
provide its own pilot fuel. This unit can be
set up for operation by one man, in approximately 2 hours.
Currently there are two units in operation. The first unit tested at 2mg/l, without assist
gas, at a large five bay Detroit terminal and also operated successfully at a small two
lane terminal with marginal vapor return. The
unit continued operating very successfully thoughout the midwest: Indiana, Michigan,
Kentucky and Alabama. It is expanding its
operating territory to meet the demand.
The second unit is of equal capacity, but has been space and weight
optimized for transport. We have used
aluminum wheels and tank, and went to light weight stainless steel ducting and vapor
burner piping. The combination has allowed us
to carry a normal fuel load without exceeding trailer axle weight. This unit was also tested in the large Detroit
terminal, and never went over 60% capacity.
We
believe that the RANE Portable Burner System can meet almost any terminals vapor recovery
needs as an emergency standby unit.
It is a cost effective way to operate a terminal when Vapor Recovery Equipment must be down for
extended maintenance.
RANE Vapor
Burners are designed to meet all applicable NFPA Burner Codes. We use a Maxon LV Line
Burner to maximize turndown and increase efficiency. Maxon Guillotine Block and Vent
Valves are used to direct vapor flow. We use
Selas Flame Checks, and Varec Flame Arrestors to safely isolate the burner and vapor
blower. An AMCA B design 3600 rpm pressure blower with heavy construction, nitrile face
gaskets, low leakage construction, and explosion-proof c-face flanged
motor are used to minimize leakage.
Burner operation is controlled through a UL approved flame safeguard. We have a secondary
safety system, using sensitive pressure switches to ensure proper operation of all
equipment. Operational and safety signals are
channeled through a GE 90-30 PLC and operation commands, signals, operator switches, and
the first out enunciator safeties are displayed on an interactive touchscreen. All high
power equipment operations are conducted through machine tool and motor control relays on
a isolated 110 VAC system. 460VAC/ 3 Phase Power
cords and arc tight Crouse- Hinds fittings are standard.
RANE Design
Criteria:
 |
RANE System is designed to handle 1,100cfm @ 20% vapor
concentration on-line burner system, on a 50 drop-deck, two axle, extendable
trailer.
|
 | Design utilizes an Equalizer to
stabilize the returned fuel vapor concentration in the burnable mixture range. This
conditioned vapor is directly burned using a variable volume Burner and can be used to
fuel the Burners pilot.
|
 |
The burner design shall meet all applicable NFPA Codes.
|
 |
The burner must be stable with one arm loading as well as with
multiple arms.
|
 |
Burner Efficiency is maintained without the need for assist
gas.
